fic: The Feel . G
Apr. 20th, 2009 11:35 pmTitle: The Feel
Summary: It was still strange sensation, thrilling, even, to be able to just touch him—his hair.
Rating: G
Prompt: Just like a song in my heart / Just like oil on my hands
Notes: So, I prompted
tielan . She's been under the weather, as it's obvious in the fact that she's actually willing to write fluff, so I, like, couldn't pass up the opportunity to get that type of fic from her. I got "Sun Over Sea" in return, John/Teyla goodness. I thought about it all day before I was finally able to come up with something drabbly, non-plotty. It would be awesome if someone wrote my other prompts.
He had still not grown wise to her game...
what would you think if I sang out of tune?

Isis Awards
Oct. 4th, 2008 09:34 pm"...the Isis Awards were created to showcase those ships in Stargate fandom that don't get quite as much attention as others on the various fanfiction archives and in fandom-wide awards."
Nominations are now open. I'm going to try and nominate as much Ronon/Keller fic as possible, just because, well, it's my favorite ship right now. Also, it's the new ship on the block this year, so I feel it needs the support. The Astonishing Persistence of Memory
Oct. 4th, 2008 11:09 amI'm sure some of y'all have heard about
sgabigbang. It was a huge thing with lots of novel length fic centered around our favorite SGA characters. My favorite writer,
tielan, wrote an amazing John/Teyla story for it. It's meant to have three parts when complete (insane).
Anyway, I read the story, loved it. She asked me to create a banner for the "bonus features" event going on. It was quite last minute, and she's like 15 hrs ahead of me as far as time zones. However, I like her fic a whole heck of a lot, so I told her I'd see if I could come up with something.
At work that day, it was pitifully slow, so I decided to see if I could sketch something out. I decided to use a simplified version of the idea I had for an illustration I planned on doing for the story. I drew it on relatively large Post-It note, took it home, scanned it, and then added text and texture (from
jeyla4ever ) in Photoshop CS2. Typestyles are Houston Pen (script) and Adobe Garamond Pro.

The point is that y'all should go check out this story. The Q&A is rather interesting, too. I like reading and writing about the writing process.

Sep. 23rd, 2008 11:30 pmI'm glad
tielan finally put these thoughts together:
On Beta Reading
I agree that a beta reader should be more than a person that reads and checks for spelling and grammatical errors, telling you how great your writing is. Praise where it's due is cool, but if something doesn't work in my story, I want to know.
But T summed things up wonderfully. I'm impressed that she condensed it all into four main points.

Jul. 11th, 2008 10:15 amThe new community
sgwomen_itest is having their first challenge. There are three different categories to enter: (1) Women of SG-1, (2) Women of SGA, and (3) Community Header. So if you're into making icons (something I recently got into), go over there, check it out, and enter a few of your own. You can enter a max of three icons per challenge. All entries are due July 15th, which, looking at my calendar, is the day I'm scheduled to get my hair done. Interesting.
I'll let ya'll know when voting is oepn, as I have submitted a few icons.

I'm one of the artists signed up. I'm partial to team, John/Teyla and Ronon/Keller prompts, just so you know. ;)

I'm still hammering out Part 6 of Making Up the Past. I really want this to be the last chapter, so I can get on to the second part of the story, which involves Ronon in earth clothes. . .
