Notes: For trekreversebang . Not as "finished" as I'd like, but the deadline approaches and I'd rather post this than not at all. There was supposed to be a story to go with this, two, actually, but things fell through, and then I had none.

I first conceived this piece as a way of drawing everyone dressed up for a formal occasion. I had the idea of the fic being a mostly gen, Uhura/Gaila friendship piece with a bit of Spock/Uhura.

The dresses change a lot over the development process. It was hard trying to find just the right style to fit Uhura and Nyota's personalities. I really would have liked Uhura's dress to have a bold print, so, if I find the right one, I'll go back and overlay the texture. I do like how her hair turned out, though, because I thought it would be neat if she wore a braided updo. The details may be a bit hard to make out because of her dark hair but I hope the highlights make them pop a bit.

I am not at all a strong colorist/digital painter so . . . I really like how the colors turned out, overall.

I'm disappointed that Spock didn't make it into this version, but I can always do another drawing of him and Nyota. Honestly, I was also running out of time and decided to simplify the piece as much as possible, which meant sacrificing the figures in the background and focusing on the foreground.

This is lovely! I love how both dresses look like something they would really wear. I like the bold colors for Uhura and the muted ones for Gaila and I really like that clear neck/collar something or other that Uhura has goin on. Its cool.

Also! The hair piece! Didn't notice it at first glance but it just adds more to the picture!

Glad you like. :) It tried to have Gaila's dress in a color that wouldn't class to much with her skin. I briefly considered making it purple before realizing that that was the color of She-Hulk's costume, and I wanted to avoid that confusion. :)

Oh yay yours is up! It's really lovely how you've incorporated their personalities into the clothes (the first draft versions look like they would work in a Firefly 'verse btw), and they really seem to fit a cross betweeen the original 60s aesthetic and the reboot.

Thank you. To find inspiration for Gaila's dress, I looked at pics of the original green girl from that "Menagerie" ep of TOS as well as the ep of Enterprise featuring Orion females. Since Gaila is a Starfleet cadet, I wanted her dress to both show off her curves but not be overtly sexual or skimpy.

Yeah, it sucks. At first I wondered how I would juggle two writers. I even told them both I was willing to change the art and/or do two separate pieces in order to accommodate their respective stories, but... :/ The communication broke down somewhere along the line.

I actually really like the dresses - when I think of the Star Trekverse I think of bold colors and not so much print - probably because of their uniforms. Nice job - love Uhara's face!
