I've always tried to explain how Jenn has managed to have so much medical experience at such an early age, so I came up with the idea that her father was something like either a military or a humanitarian doctor, and that he was posted to remote areas of the globe where Jenn had to help out with treating people from a rather young age. When her mother got sick (could be the result of some tropical disease she caught?) they returned to the States where Jenn finished her schooling. It could also explain why she had such a hard time fitting in, having spent most of her teenage years in the jungle or desert, away from other kids her age.
Wow. Your take is definitely more adventurous than what I had planned. However, it does make me think (because of the way I imagine the background of Jennifer's parents) that it could be Jennifer's mother that was in scientific/medical profession.
Am I gonna have to make another poll for that now? LOL.

And that totally sounds a lot like the main character's background in the movie Mean Girls. ;)
I always imagined Jennifer's dad as a college professor, she would have been brought up in a college town, where the regular schools are exceptional (often the case here in the states) and would have had loads of resources at her fingertips to help her excell at such a young age.
I thought her dad would be an academian as well, at one point, and that maybe she could have lived in a college town. But Chippewa Falls doesn't seem to be like that. I'll have to look into what kind of universities are near there, though. Conversely, the lack of higher educational opportunities nearby could have been a deciding factor in Jennifer leaving home.
Chippewa falls is near (10 miles from ) Eu-Claire which has the univeristy of wisconsin main campus (a very well-known university), I have a friend who teaches there and lives in Chippewa Falls ;) inside info I know!:d
Oh, cool beans. That's definitely important info. I really want to give insight into Jennifer's life growing up. I pretty much have a story for what her high school years were like, but haven't thought much on her college life.
Oh gee...I just had an idea for a funny scene where Ronon sees photos of Jen when she was younger... XD
