renisanz: angelo, jono, & jubilee watching tv (parking)

So, I watched Daedalus Variations, not expecting much from what I had seen of the previews on Scifi.

The opening scene was cute. It took me a moment to figure out what they were talking about. Funny that Rodney is lamenting the fact that Teyla won't let him hold Torren. Of course he hates kids, but ate holding Torren all fresh and gooey from Teyla's womb, he prolly realized it's not that bad. :)

It was cool seeing the gang all back for another mission. It was actually pretty strange, as the last few several episodes everyone had been separated. Now I realize what I'd been missing about the show. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the "let's go investigate the dark, creepy ship with strange energy readings that just appeared out of thin air," but I realize it was necessary to the plot.

Yay! for another Ronon & Teyla moment. They're so cute. I like how Ronon kinda softened his tension at seeing the deat AU version of themselves when Teyal expressed her worry over the life of the other people. Though I liked this character moment (which the writers have been taking more time with this season) it does slow down the action of the plot a bit.

Ok, a lot of stuf happened in this episode.

I loved how all of a sudden Teyla knows how to use the Daedalus systems. Awesome. Her helping Rodney out with the sublight systems was very cool. I'm like, "Finally, she can do something helpful." Honestly, with all the technology around, it would make sense for her to learn how to operate it. I guess we first got a hint of this in "Quarantine."

Ronon on the other hand . . . *shakes head*. . .

I got strangely giddy when Ronon was fighting the alien intruder. I have no idea why.

LOL at how after everything was said and done, Rodney realizes that John's idea for getting them back actually might work.

Again. . .Ronon getting a crash course in the rail guns and then being frustrated and banging the console. . .I guess he'll rethink skipping out the next time Lt. Marks wants to give a lesson. Ya live and ya learn. Oh, and John calling him "Chewie" . . . XD

Loved Lorne (has he been working out?) and Zelenka together, and even a bit more of Chuck, back from leave or wherever he was. ;)

John stroking AU!John's ego. . . *rolls eyes* It was funny though, and a bit unexpected. Didn't quite know he thought that much of himself. :)

I loved Rodney's "Don't worry—I won't let this mission be your last," to Teyla. :) I suppose he deserved to hold the baby after that, as awkward as he was with it. They really need to do something about the massive amounts of swaddling though. It's ridiculous, really.

The best thing about this episode was that I did not expect to enjoy it, and it completely surprised me. I loved the element of teamwork and the character moments in between, even though they slowed down the plot a bit. There were definitely moments where I wondered where they were going with the whole thing. I do wonder if this episode is going to tie into any other episodes. If not it's cool. This was a good stand alone. It's not the best episode evah, as I've come to agree with others, but it was definitely entertaining, and had all the things I'd been missing about the show. :)

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I think the swadding is to hide the fact the baba isn't real, lol.

I was non-plussed by the ep. it was good but a lot of it seemed forced. The Chewie thing is getting... I don't know. The over use of it in fandom has ruined its use on the show, in a way.

But it was a good team ep :)

I agree. When I heard John saying, I thought it was kinda weird, because I don't remember him using the term before on the show, but I had read it before in fandom.

I get what you're saying about stuff seeming forced. The character moments are great, but things don't flow as smoothly as they could. But at least the writers are trying, and some good stuff is coming out of those scenes, I think.
