Comments: Another piece for the kissing meme (which is still open for requests, btw). The reference pic is actually from my own stash, but jennidinorobot  went ahead and requested it for a Ronon/Keller prompt.

Now, sezjara  saw the reference pic and was inspired to write a wonderful fic to go along with it. The girl's so good, and she doesn't even know. :)


Teaser:

Two days of not knowing how he was, if he was even alive, had nearly killed her. She couldn’t concentrate on her duties, sleep wasn’t even a thought, and the idea of eating made her nauseous.

Sure, she worried about the others, too. She was a doctor, after all. But with him it was different. He was her lifeline. He was her rock. Without him…she shudders at the thought.

The gist, as I commented on the meme: "I imagine Ronon just came back from a particularly harrowing and dangerous mission, probably gone for several days, and once he gets through the gate, Jen jumps into his arms. . ."

I actually had in mind this scene at the end of a story by KeiraMarcos. I have no idea which one it was, but Ronon had just come through the gate. He had this new rifle version of his pistol, and it just went clattering to the ground as Jennifer jumped into his arms.

The gate lit up and she stayed where she was. Watching the people who made it their job to be the first line of defense in Atlantis for the “just in case” scenario. Ronon was always the last man through and when he stepped through he gave Chuck a nod. The wormhole disappeared behind him.

“Go on,” John muttered. “Half the damn city is loitering about waiting for this.”

Jennifer hopped up, made every effort not to run, and went to him. A few feet away, she lost her battle with not running, but he caught her and lifted her right off the ground, his pulse rifle hitting the floor, again.

Cute/funny commentary followed, but that image just stuck with me.

Technical aspects of the drawing. . .

I really need to refresh my art supplies. When I first went to draw the John/Teyla prompt, I could find not one mechanical pencil, which is my tool of choice. So I had to go the old-fashioned way. I found a set of unsharpened pencils. Fortunately, I had a pencil sharpener tucked away with my set of Faber-Castells (haven't used those in ages). So, I drew this with a regular #2 pencil, using a Click!eraser to clean up the lines, because it's soft and doesn't tear up the paper, acid-free sketch boook paper, in this case. The pencil actually worked out well in the end or shading and doing Ronon's hair texture, which is more difficult to achieve with the fine tip of a mechanical pencil.

I gave the lines a slightly warmer tint in Photoshop CS2.

What I like:
• Ronon's hair.
• Jen's hair.
• Ronon's face.
• Jen's arm and mid-section.
• The opportunity to draw Ronon in his Season 5 gear.

What's "eh":
• Ronon's head looks kinda big, but Jason has a big head in real life (thinks of Martin Wood's commentary on "Quarantine").
• Don't know if I quite got Ronon's proportions right. I'm leaving it, though. That whole other person sitting comfortably against his mid-sction makes it hard to tell. :)
• I think Jen's watch is on the wrong arm, but. . .eh.

Uhm. . .LOL.

I so wish I was able to attend DragonCon. Was planning on it actually, and if I did, I thought of the possibility of getting Jewel to maybe sign one of my more "subtle" pieces.

Omg! *squees* I so love it Reni! It's so amazing!

I'm particulary drawn to Jen's feet - how they're crossed over each other in a sort of possesive sort of way. It's like she's saying that he's hers and this is what he has to look forward to when he comes back.

Anyway, I love it, as always. You're so talented Reni. :)

Hello back. :) Glad you like it. I suppose I'll have this colored by the weekend, since I've now been inspired to make this mo' betta, as my sis says. :)
