squee! Thoughts from Star Trek

Well, my summer movie experience can only go downhill from here. Do I even care about seeing Terminator Salvations or Transformers 2 anymore? Not so much.
• OMG, it's totally the warlord dude from Iron Man. Homedude's been working out, and he's a good guy now.
• Aww...Cameron from House is having a baby. It's cool seeing this type of emotion from Jennifer Morrison, cuz wherever she's on House she's so serious.
• Yeah, I was thinking about what a big geek I am to know James Tiberius Kirk is his full name.
• Wow. Kirk is a bad little boy. It's interesting that we don't see any more of his step-dad. I'm assuming that's whose voice it was telling him what a beating he was about to get if he put a scratch on the car. That putting the car over the cliff scene so rang of Ferris Bueller.
• Hey, it's Winona Ryder, and awww Spock loves his mommy. :)
• He totally used "Live long, and prosper" to tell the Vulcan Science Council to suck it. XD
• Lots of exciting stuff happens in between but I really want to write about this: OMG, Spock/Uhura is so made of win. I did not see that coming AT ALL. I mean, I saw in the trailers where she hugged him, and I figured he'd quickly regain his composure after being overcome by the affectionate gesture. Favoritism, right.
• I'm also surprised that I recognized Clifton Collins, Jr. in his Romulan make-up. This guy gets around in movies.
• The blink-and-you-miss-him appearance of Paul McGillian was cool.
• Chekov and his W for V thing was cute. Sulu and fencing (really?)...*laughs* Oh, the red-shirt. Are Australians offended, I wonder...
All in all, lots of cool, funny, heart felt and just freakin' awesome. I didn't mind the changes at all, as this is an alternate reality/timelime. I'm still too full of squee! right now to say anything more. I will definitely be adding this movie to my collection—that I knew from the opening sequence.

Date: 2009-05-10 09:40 am (UTC)Considering the actor, Greg Ellis, is from Lancashire, UK, we're not offended at all...
Except that you can't tell a Lancashire accent from an Aussie one!

Date: 2009-05-10 04:17 pm (UTC)Is that just me, or do they accents really sound that similar. Because, in the past, I have heard people with English accents that sounded Australian. For some reason, some people with SoCal accents sound a lot like country/Southern American accents to me, except with less of a draw.
My dad tells me there are people who live in Louisiana who have accents that sound like a Boston one, and it's because the same kind of people settled in those areas.
Anyway, I thought of you when I made that observation, or hoped you'd respond. ;)
In other news, ya'll are killing me with the drabble meme prompts. I'll have to mull over yours for a bit. :) I do like it, though.
